Bremen Resident Passes Away at 86

Garland Maurice Carothers, 86, of Bremen, passed away Wednesday, April 24, 2024, at 4:25 pm in Signature Health Care of Bremen. Garland was born May 30, 1937, to the late Brightsel and Garnet (Doster) Carothers.

On June 6, 1957, Garland married Muriel Miller, who survives. He is also survived by his children, Michael (Jeri) Carothers of Bremen, Mark (Karen) Carothers of New Bremen, and Melanie Ann (Mark) Beery of Bremen; grandchildren, Christopher (Carly) Carothers of Cincinnati, Cody (Allison) Carothers of Lima, Matthew Carothers of New Bremen, Bryan (Mary) Carothers of Bremen, Brittany Carothers of Bremen, Tyler Carothers of New Bremen, Brett (Brittney) Beery of Wapakoneta, and Benjamin Beery of Bremen; eight great-grandchildren; and a brother, Robert (Diane) Carothers of Wapakoneta.

Garland was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Marilyn Jean Carothers and Eileen Ruth Carothers.

Garland was a member of the Salem Evangelical Lutheran Church in New Bremen. He owned and operated Carothers Repair for many years, and he was well-known for his meticulous attention to detail and comprehensive services. Garland loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
